Vantis
Vantis was a semiconductor company that operated as a subsidiary of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), focused exclusively on designing and manufacturing programmable logic devices (PLDs). Founded in the late 1990s, Vantis was carved out from AMD’s existing logic products division to specifically address the growing market for field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) and complex programmable logic devices (CPLDs). The company aimed to deliver high-performance, cost-effective programmable solutions for a variety of applications in communications, computing, and industrial electronics. Despite its innovative technology and competitive products, Vantis was eventually reintegrated back into AMD in 1999 as part of a strategic shift to consolidate resources. Its technologies and product lines contributed to AMD’s broader offerings before the company later divested its programmable logic segments.
